If you’ve been thinking about booking a sports massage but aren’t quite sure what you’re signing up for — this is for you. A lot of people put it off because they don’t know what the experience involves. Let’s clear that up.
It starts with a conversation
Before anything else, we talk. I’ll ask what’s brought you in, where you’re feeling pain or tension, what your activity levels are like, and whether there are any medical conditions or injuries I need to know about. This isn’t small talk — it shapes the entire session.
You won’t necessarily be undressed
Depending on the area being treated, you may need to remove some clothing — but towels are always used for modesty, and you’ll only ever expose the area being worked on. If you’re uncomfortable with anything at any point, just say so.
It’s not a relaxation massage
Sports massage is clinical and targeted. It can be uncomfortable, particularly on areas that are tight, overworked, or haven’t had attention in a while. Most people describe it as a “good hurt” — pressure that feels purposeful rather than painful. You’re always in control and can ask me to ease off at any time.
What I’m actually doing
I’m working on your muscles, tendons, and connective tissue — using a combination of techniques to release tension, improve circulation, and restore movement. I’ll adapt based on how your body responds as we go.
Afterwards
You may feel a little tender for 24–48 hours, especially after a first session or if we’ve worked on a particularly tight area. Drink plenty of water and try not to do anything too strenuous that day. Most people feel noticeably better within a day or two.
Ready to try it?
If you’ve been putting it off, don’t. The first session is often the most eye-opening — both for you and for me. Book online here →
